Out of this world! Our recent Skills Builder Challenge Day, "Crash Landing," brought out the very best in our students as they sprang into action to help two unexpected alien visitors who crash-landed on Earth.
We are thrilled to announce that our school has been officially recognised with the Skills Builder Award, a prestigious accolade that celebrates our commitment to equipping students with essential, lifelong competencies. This achievement highlights our dedication to fostering a culture where key skills—specifically listening, speaking, creativity, problem-solving, adapting, planning, leadership, and teamwork—are woven into the very fabric of our curriculum. By embedding these eight essential skills into our daily routine, we’ve seen a remarkable boost in learner confidence, resilience and engagement across all year groups.
The Summer Fair 2026 was a great success, with many activities and stalls that brought joy to both children and parents. We are delighted to report that we raised an incredible £2,000 which will go directly towards supporting the well-being of our children here at Minet Junior School. The weather was perfect, and the day was truly beautiful. Parents and children enjoyed walking around the stalls, engaging in fun activities, and spending quality time together. It was a lovely day filled with laughter and community spirit.
Day 2
Day One
The Year 6 children, who are not going on the residential trip this week, spent the morning making origami World Cup football shirts.
Along with seven other schools, our Choir performed at the Beck Theatre on 1st July.
What a fun day out at the British Museum! The year 3s had a great time getting close and personal with the artefacts they have been studying in history. Particular highlights were the Rosetta Stone and the mummies. Despite how busy the museum was, the year 3s behaved excellently and had lots of thoughtful questions about what we saw.
We were delighted to welcome Paralympian Kylie Grimes to our school for a truly inspiring day of sport and motivation.
Kylie, who represented Great Britain in wheelchair rugby at the Tokyo Paralympic Games, delivered a fantastic assembly where she shared her journey to becoming an elite athlete. She spoke about the importance of determination, resilience, teamwork and never giving up on your dreams, inspiring all of our pupils to believe in themselves and strive to achieve their goals.
Following the assembly, the children took part in a sponsored fitness circuit, giving everyone the opportunity to challenge themselves while raising money for our school. The pupils showed great enthusiasm, perseverance and encouragement towards one another throughout the event, making it a fun and memorable experience for all.
The Year 5 pupils had an action-packed and exciting taster day at Oak Wood secondary school, getting a true flavour of high school life. Their day kicked off with an energetic PE lesson on the sports ground, where they brushed up on their cricket skills, followed by an imaginative English session diving deep into the magical world of myths and legends. The children then put on their international hats, swiftly picking up basic words and conversational phrases in a combined French and Spanish language workshop.
Last week, our school joined in with My Money Week, which is all about helping children learn how to handle money with confidence.
